Looking for "concours" upholstery shop in L.A. area
I have a pair of early "S" leather sports seats, plus some other interior odds and ends, that need restoration. I am about to send them off to Auto's International in San Diego but first thought I'd check if anyone knows of a shop that can do comparable work in the Greater L.A. area.
I am looking for "concours quality" work, and someone with experience working on these sport seats so I am not their first victim! These seats are way too valuable to risk a botched job. Also, even if I get them done locally am I better off buying the materials from a Porsche specialist like AA or World Upholstery? Or could a local shop get the same quality stuff for less money? Any leads greatly appreciated! Thx, Chris C. |

Auto's International in Escondido (north of SD) is a fabulous restorer. They've restored my Targa top and rollbar header, plus stitched up the steering wheel leather where it was coming loose. Fair pricing, quick turnaround, quality work! Even better, its major fun to tour the shop floor, checking out the beautiful 911s, 356s, even some BMWs getting hardtop-to-full-cabrio conversions.
These guys are good. I and other PCASD region members swear by them. ------------------ S. Chris Edmonds 1983 911SC Targa |

Thanks for the reply! I just finished boxing up the seats and other parts to ship off to Autos Intl. tomorrow. Decided it is not worth it to go with less than the best.
Thanks for the extra reinforcement to the other great feedback I've gotten re. Autos Intl. I'll let everyone know how the project turns out. Chris C. |
