What gauge is the steel on porsche fenders?

I need to make a patch on my 66's fender and I am not sure what steel to buy. 10 gauge?

16 gauge or 1 mm is the spec I've read...

Porsche Crest

It is 1.0 mm. AWG 18 is 1.02 mm ... so it is a hair under 18 ga.

18 is harder to find at the home stores and scrap metal places. Lots of 16 ga. around. If you're not too sure about your metal work skills, get some 16. YOu will be able to grind to your heart's content and still have some metal. That having been said, I've hand ammer formed some 18 and it's a lot of work!

I don't know what part you are patching, but almot all of the fender is a compound curve of one sort or another. If it's the lower portion behind the wheel arch, they sell those already formed. You get the inside piece, too.

Pelican doesn't have this, but if that's what you are looking for, the source is here somewhere in the archives, or PM me and I'll find it.

Would that 1mm hold true for inner and outer panels on the tub itself?
