Just to narrow the years down for you... it's either a '74, '75 or one of 123 1976 MY 2.7 MFI Carrera coupes. They switched to the Carrera3.0 in '76-'77.
Right now I'd say a real nice #'s matching 2.7 MFI Euro Carrera sits around 45-50k. Maybe a little more for the '76. As this one sits maybe 20-25 thousand? Tough to tell w/o pictures. If the engine is running properly it should put out 210hp; same as the '73 RS. Look out for a butcher job inside the doors when the DOT added US side impact bars. |

I think the August issue of Excelence had prices for the early Carreras.

Some of the DOT required changes were:
Replace H-4 headlights w/ sealed beam US spec lights Add door bars Add a catalytic converter Replace km/h w/ mph speedo Replace front reflector block outs w/ the reflectors (sometimes) remove smaller rear bumper guards and replace w/ the bigger ones. (sometimes) remove lighter euro bumper crush tubes and replace w/ heavier US spec bumper shocks Replace orange taillight lenses w/ the all red US versions Can anyone else think of other DOT swapouts? |

Greg,
You have some good estimates from Carl. If you can get it for $12-15K you are way ahead before starting to bring it back to excellent condition. Because the KM is still present there may not have been many DOT changes done to this car. Lets hope not. Is it a coupe or Targa? Does it have a ducktail spoiler? If so it is a '74. How about sport seats and a Carrera steering wheel? The VIN should be for coupes: 911460001-9114601036 with engine #'s 6640001-6641456 type 911/83 911560001-9115600518 with engine #'s 6650001-6650712 I am sure you know this but these cars a blast to drive and weigh about the same as a '73 RS Touring car. Many of these cars aren't around anymore so to bring one back with give a desirable, appreciating 911.

thanks Brian and all for the info .i think it is a coupe I do not think any DOT changes have been made. because he said that all the euro dash gauges are still there. It has the early turbo whale taile and the front chin spoiler so it must be 75 or newer I am going to look at it in about an hour and will take a bunch of pictures and check all # and let you know what it realy is THanks agen for the info

EPA and DOT regulations don't need to be met for cars imported 25 years or more after their original production date. In fact, one of the agencies gives up caring about them after 23 years and I can never remember whether it's the EPA or DOT. Anyway, even if the car were imported before that time and not converted, I doubt there's much of an issue at this point.
Many of the cars already had DOT glass. Check for a DOT marking on the stamps on each window. JR
