Please Help Me Identify This Motor!

Ok I am trying to find out a little history on the 1969 912 I bought a month or so ago. I don't really know much history at all on the car since I bought it from a used car dealership.

So I found the number on the engine and was wondering if any of you guys could tell me maybe the year and the model of car the engine came from.

The number is " 4094216 "

ANY information at all that any of you could provide would be great! I mainly just want to know the year of car the engine came from and any special specs or anyhting about it.

Thanks!

You will want to go get yourself a Technical Specifications book put out by Porsche (available from Performance and Tweeks). These little booklets are packed with specs you'll need down the road as well as all the codes and stats for the production of your specific model. Well worth the few dollars to buy one--

I might be wrong but most 911's at least more current ones have 8 digits with the 3rd digit being a letter designating the production year, ( example 63 K 00937 ) K is model year 1989. Once again, I apologize if this does not pertain to 912's.

Actually thats what I think to. I belive that even old late 60s and 70's 911s are the same way so I don't see why the 912 shhouldn't be as well. In that case my 3rd digit is 9 so maybe it's a 69 motor which would probably make it the original motor.

But I have a list of number for 912 engines and none of them start with a 4 as the first digit, hmmmmm.
