Recaro seat rebuild thoughts
Still struggling with best route on seats for 1978 911SC Targa project. The current seats are Recaro's, as shown. driver's seat fabric worn off in seat cushion area. Side bolsters are still firm, with cloth in good condition. Anyone had any experience having this model seat recovered?
Thanks. Mike ![]() |

I wouldn't go to too much troiuble or expenses on those seats - they are nice seats but not period correct for the car. Maybe keep an eye on the Pelican Parts classifieds and try to get some Recaros from a SC Sport. Here in NZ they are cheap as people tend to go for lightweight racing seats.

My wife was bidding on a set just like those on Ebay last week. They sold for $500.00!! They were in better condition but I was surprised they went for so much. I was going to have them recovered in black cloth.

I was watching those seats as well on ebay. I also thought they went for a good price.

Those ARE 'period correct' for an SC, as they are late '70s - early '80s vintage aftermarket Recaros ... just not OEM Recaros for an SC.
If you are considering cloth covers, it wouldn't seem to matter, since even factory original seats recovered in cloth will not appear original!

I don't even want to know what you were doing in the seat to cause it to wear away like that.
