Help - removing Cam oil bridge in 3.6?

Hi ,

I am trying to replace the o-rings in the oil bridges in my 3.6. Engine is in car and I removed the bridge but the oil tube that connects the bridge to the engine - how do i get this out?

Been pulling on it and it will not budge? Really would like to replace the o-ring in there.

Thanks!!!!!

Earl

grab it lightly with some angled dykes and lever it out.

John,

Just wanted to say thanks again.
I finished replacing the orings in the bridges - ended up pulling the metal on both sides and which makes it very easy to get them out. Frankly I struggled before I pulled the metal sides off.

I am cleaning up some small oil leaks and these were definitely a source of one leak. I am hopeful that this is th extent of the leaks for the cam boxes - I clean everything up and we shall see.
How common is this - I wonder how many cam boxes are repacked when its the bridges??

Anyway I appreciate you posts!!
Earl

angled dykes, or basically wire cutters with an angled head. snapon sells nice ones. about the size of a regular pair of pliers. good for levering/pulling out cotter pins. among other things.

Update and question.

I have been driving the car since the bridge o-rings were replaced this weekend. FYI - I have been driving hard ( high revs ) to try to make it leak!!

Good news - the right side cam towers are dry no leaks!!!

Bad news the left tensioner ( top) appears to be weeping . I tighten up the nuts on the covers cleaned it up. Let's see. This looks like the only "leak", if I can call it that, but it is wet. Darn!

Question - Can I change the left (top) tension gasket w/o disturbing the cam timing?

I intend to pull my distributor to replace the belt in the next few weeks. Also plan on replacing crankshaft seal at same time, trying to avoid the dreaded cam timing, if possible. Don't like to fix it if it ain't broken.

Thanks!
earl
