Shifter housing 4spd to 5 spd

Hi there,

I'm going to a 5 speed 915 tranny from a 4 spd do I need a completely new shifter assembly or can I re-use the housing.

I'm going to purchase a wevo 915 set up so I'm not sure if the assembly can be re-used or not.

Yes, as I understand it, the shifter is the same unit for both the 4 and 5 speed 915. The reverse is still in the same place on the gearboxes - ergo the reverse lockout (which is the important part) will still do its job on the housing.

Pretty sure there's been other posts on this, a search should bring something up.

Fairly sure the parts you get woth the Wevo set up sorts any discrepancies out. Shoot Hayden Burvill (owner) an email - he's great bloke and will answer definitively for you.

I just installed a 915 shifter housing in my '72 4 speed which had the 901 style housing originally. Seems to work fine.
