Is there any easy way to remove the left chain housing/cover, or am I looking at an engine drop?
I need to remove it so I can tap the lowest point for an oil return, from the turbo.

Not sure what's in front of it since you mention a turbo, but usually, on a n/a car, the muffler and the engine tin are all you need to remove to get there.

Well, the turbo isn't in front of it yet, it will be eventually.
If it's just the engine tin surround, then that's easy ![]()

Just to clarify, the muffler too, but that probably won't stay anyway.
Have fun! George |

That's correct. The whole exhaust, from the heads to muffler tip will be removed.
I take it I'd need to drain the oil before removing the chain cover, right?

Yes, there will be oil in the engine up to that level, especially if it has sat for a while and some of the oil had time to drain back from the oil tank.

Merv, you can cheat a little and jack up the left side to run the oil to the right side - this can save you effort for a minor job...

He he, very clever John. I'll take that into consideration when I remove the chain cover! Thanks!
I plan to have a 3/4" barbed tube welded to the chain cover. Plenty big enough for a turbo oil drain ![]()
