Suspension upgrades torsion and sway bars

I understand that torsion and sway bars from an 86 were the best size to upgrade to. Was the turbo torsion and sways any better than the NA ones?? What are the best yrs and sizes to go to??? Is there anything that I shouldnt change in a 83 SC like rears? Any help would be appreciated. This car is mostly street with DE's and autocross events thrown in. Mark

The 86 up has larger swaybars that interchange with SC bars. The front torsions will be the same size .I think the rears are the same or very little larger at about 25mm. The turbo cars have the same size front and 26 mm rear torsion bar

Funny timing. I have an '84. I have stock 19/24 torsion bars.
I literally just upgraded from my stock 20/18 sways to factory 22/21 sways. I haven't done much driving yet, but initial impressions are great. Flatter through the turns, yet still compliant. The car feels really good. Also, my wrench drilled two additional holes in the rear sway bar so I have some adjustability.
I'm going to a combo DE/AutoX out at Pocono Raceway this weekend, so I'll be able to elaborate next week.

They may have come from an '86-'89 930. The ad said "pair of late factory sways. Front is 22mm, Rear is 21mm. Largest factory sways available for the SC/Carrera." I bought them used here on Pelican.

I'll give you a handling update next week.

The turbo and carrera swaybars are the same ,both got larger in 86. The front torsions remained the same size from 3.0l onwards the rears were always slightly larger on turbos I am unsure if the rear torsions have changed since the SC on NA cars. The rear swaybar on the turbo and G50 cars has a "dip"in the middle to clear the trans but dia is the same and it will work on SC and carreras. I also drilled an adjustment hole in my rear bar but I am not able to sense any difference. The 86 SWbars make a big diff by themselvesI also revalved my Bilsteins added 22/30 torsions, solid bushings and went to 17 wheels VERY BIG difference.
