steering wheel column switches extension?

I placed a ca. 2"spacer under my Momo steering wheel (actually a quick release). I like the wheel position much better for my height, but can't operate the turn and wiper switch from the steering wheel.
I have thought about modifying the switches.
Can you heat and bend them?- or - build extensions? anybody else tried this?
