How do you remove gauge pointers
Is it possible to get this pointer off w/o breaking it? I've tried pulling and prying to no avail. Also, is there a source for the day- glo orange/red pointer paint? Let me know if you want a bigger picture.
Thanks, Pathttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1158083209.jpg |
I always use 2 flat screw drivers to pry it off. Also place a piece of carton under the scretdriver to not scratch the gauge panel.

Wow, the 3.2L car gauges had mostly linear numbers, but the numbers on that thing are crazy.
|
I've also had great luck using a fork. Just be careful. If you want an "official pointer pulling tool", PM me...I'll send you the one they sent with my gauge panel overlays if you wish.

Steve: The numbers are for calibration, they are hidden when the gauge is in the housing.
roux: That would be great. I'll PM my address. |
Pat, got your PM...The tool will go out tomorrow morning. Glad I could help.;)
Although I have not used it on the temp. gauge...(used it on speedo, tach, clock only)... I'd be tempted to go to a hobby shop, buy some paint, slide a sheet of paper between the needle & face, and just paint the sucker! |
Thanks for your help, the tool worked perfectly. I put it in the mail today.

Glad it worked out OK for you Pat. Always happy to help out if I can.
