Tranny problems

I do not have any problems shifting up but when I down shift to second at any sort of speed, it just grinds, same with first. The clutch feels like its to easy to push, could it just need adjusting? I am going in for a fluid change soon, is there anything I should be looking for?

Be sure the clutch is adjusted so that it fully disconnects the engine from the tranny. In other words, adjust it so it's to spec.

Use Swepco 201. The symptoms you described, grinding into gears when downshifting, surely means your 'synchros' are worn. There are a few parts involved and they are fairly small. The smooth synchro rings should be least spendy. Synchro hubs, small rings with teeth, are more spendy, if you need them.

Synchros wear. Your symptoms are very usual.

My suggestion would be to do the flushing procedure described in the following thread, then change to SWEPCO 201, and hope for the best!
