Muffler identification "Bischoff" SS?
Had the muffler off and noticed what looked like a spot of stainless steel showing through the normal road crud. Started a wire brush and it looks like this might be a stainless steel muffler. I found the following stamped on the muffler "Bischoff 911.025.01/274" also, to the left of that stamp was "911/1" Is this the stock muffler for a 1974 911 coupe or was this an upgrade by one of the previous owners? Any help in identifying this would be appreciated..

In Paul Frere's 1st edition technical/historical masterpiece, 'Porsche 911 Story' a stainless steel 'silencer' (sounds like one of those translation 'funnies' to me) is mentioned as a reliability/durability 'upgrade' for the '74 model year, so it would appear that you have discovered something GOOD about a 2.7, for a change!

Let's see ... Memorial Day, Sunday afternoon, sounds like a good day to fire up the 911 without the muffler for GRINS!!! I think you will get a kick out of hearing the equal-length headers inside those heat exchangers!!! Long enough to warm-up the oil, anyway! ENJOY!
