problem to start my 930 turbo 1976

hi-
i have problem to start my 930 turbo - the engine doesn't turn round for the first 3 minutes - the rpm goes from 800 to 500 then 800...und then the engine stops. After 3-4 minutes the rpm goes up to 900

I do not understand. You are having trouble with idle speed? Or trouble starting?

i have a problem with the idle speed when i start the cold engine - for 3-4 minutes the r.p.m vary from 900 to 500 und up to 900 und then the engine turn off.

I've heard that the Warm Up Regulator is often the cause of erratic idle like this. You can test it wiht a pressure gauge. You can slso test the resistance between the two electrical contacts.

I assume your car is CIS.

thanks - do you know how much the resistance is between the two electrical contacts when the w.regulator is ok?? I have 35 ohm

I have misplaced my Haynes manual which probably does not give this specification anyway. An early 80s CIS Volkswagen w. reg. shold measure 22 ohms, but that's not helpful.

The correct way to assess this is to measure fuel pressure.
