I'm sorry if I don't know the terminology, but you call that bucket, as in rust bucket right?

The car looks awesome to me!

Beautiful car. I'm a little proud of our ongoing debate about which eras were best. I really like my '83 and decided I could afford it, but was shopping for the less expensive earier ones. To be truthful, your car has a prettier nose. I like my flairs though and the black trim.

Beautiful car, not_sure. I also like the early wheels. spectacular going slow.

Not bad, at all, Tom! Nice original paint, too. At least your paint didn't have a clear coat that turned into the 'fish scale' look!

Your polishing job turned out nice on the Fuchs, too!

Thanks S, I still have a little more work to do on the wheels but there close. Im not much for the orange so Im going to squirt some silver on it one day. I am moving next week and Im going to have a bigger place so I think Im going to put it on stands and tear it down and put it back together. Im going to set up a pc in the garage and have a live cam on the ordeal, plus pics.

Nice car. What year? I notice it doesn't have the 's'front spoiler, a nice option if you come across one. It's always difficult deciding whether to change colour or not- asthetics vs originality. Unless you are going to do a total body dip (major effort- Ive done a few, and you have to be pretty keen)) I would stick with its present hue. There's nothing worse than seeing a different colour through stone chips or in door jambs etc. I would value an original colour higher than a change too. Mind you, silver does look especially great in these early stainless hooped targas (personal bias?)as it does on any German sports car!
A couple of colour questions while I'm thinking that way: My engine bay is black, and looks original, but I can't find any photos to verify either way. Also, are these early Fuchs supposed to Gloss black or Satin between the anodising? The later cars are satin I know, but my old (original) paint looks much more gloss. Picky I know, but you gotta get these things right!

Thanks Matt, actually I bought the car to hack on, I got it cheap and just needed somthing to play with. I am still not sure what to do with the car, I want to buy another 911 ( with ac and heat ) for a daily driver. I may or may not hack it, but the orange really has to go...

Oh well, if it was cheap, I suppose that changes things...! Get out the vacuum cleaner spray gun and blow on a litre of silver enamel (jk).
This does bring up a point tho: I'm surprised at the lowish value placed on pre impact cars in the States. As far as I can make out, most other countries are viewing them less as 'old Porsches' and more as bona fide classics, of which your country seems to have more rust free examples than elsewhere. No problem for us of course, we'll import them willingly! Just don't complain when they all run out and you have to end up using Hyundai's as your daily driver 'hacks'..

Its not that Im going to cheap anything, my belief is, if its worth doing its worth doing right.Even if its a hack. I think Im going to start breking the car down into little bitty pieces as soon as I get done moving next week. I found a guy here in houston that does media blasting for a good price. I am kinda starting to like the small bumpers, will probally get rid of the steel and go with glass. I just like big fenders, so thats my only delima.
