Hagerty Insurance is awesome
I pay $63 a year for full coverage. I caught a rock in the windshield last week and reported it to them via email. They called me the next day and said no problem just take the car to the shop of my choice and let them know where it is and they will pay for the repairs.
A new windshield from the dealer is $915 + $150 new seal + $200 for install. Any other suggestions?

$63/year in SD - no way? Did you miss a digit in there? Or is that with 6 other cars already insured? If that's real I'm switching!

At that price, you better jump on any claim fast before they go under!

I've had Hagerty for five years now. I pay $730 per year for my '85 Turbolook and my '80 SC. But then again, I do not live in Ohio, but in Brooklyn, NY.
Hagerty's service is impecable. I highly recommend. I had the same thing happen with a rock to the windshield, they said "no problem, get it done with the shop of your choice." So I did and they paid out right away.

Yes, but I believe there are stipulations such as mileage?
I don't know about you guys but I can't get enough of the 911 and sometimes put on about 3000 miles in one month. |

Are there any mileage restrictions for Haggerty?

Hagerty does not limit your mileage, but you cant drive to work and you have to have another car for a daily drive.

I too have Hagerty, but have as of yet to make a claim, but with regard to mileage limitations, there are no written limits. The big tip off that they don't worry about mileage is that they didn't ask for a picture of the odometer when I first added the 911. They just wanted pictures of the interior, trunk, eng. compartment and a side shot. This was all to prove that the car was what I claimed and that it wasn't modified.
So a dealer wants over a grand to do a windshield!? I had the windshield replaced on my '83 SL for $350. This was with Pilkington glass, done by a local shop. That included everything, well except a new seal. On a SL the windshield is a structual member due to the car being topless. Why would the windshield for a 911 be so much?

I have my 911sc , my 914 and my 70 Hemi Challenger all covered under American Collector. I can't remember now but There was a reason I went with them instead of Hagerty. I did call Hagerty first. It was something with the policy not the cost that concerend me.

Hagerty doesn't care if your 911 is modified. Mine is highly modified, fully detailed in a book I wrote, and all the mods are listed on the original Hagerty application.
All modern windshields are "structural," at least in that they are considered to be part of the passenger-side airbag system. Stephan

a note here on windshields. mine was $1400 bucks thru a somewhat questionable p-shop we did use(past tense). i'm sure he made his cut on it and it wasnt the goodness of his heart when he inquired about replacing mine. i have full glass coverage, so it wasnt out of pocket and ins. company didnt blink about cost.
my insurance company is about 10 min. from work. all they wanted me to do was drive over check VIN # and told me to keep all receipts. covers me at PIR as long as i have instructor with me in car w/ALL safety gear. when flag drops.........................insurance stops. |

I used MasterGlass.com (I found them online), local in San Diego and paid $200 ish installed for OEM glass. Pilkington, I think. I paid an extra $50 or so to have that vs. some made in China. They came to my garage and installed. That may not have included the seal, but they are far cheaper than you quoted from Pelican.
If you are worried about being turned away from Hagerty after one repair, this may be the way to go. Doug

the OEM glass on my 89 911 is Sigla with antenna...so far it is looking like $850ish is what anybody wants for the part, then add for labor, new gasket, goop/etc. PPG no longer makes a front windshield for my car. Bilkington...I don't know who they are..it's not OEM
re. ins. companies - State Farm is making noises like they don't want to replace with OEM...I did finally find a guy that has done and does a lot of 911 windshield replacements..so I'm going to see if I can just pay out of my pocket and then get a check from SF without having to use the SF installer which is now Capital Glass somewhere here in San Jose area. I want to go to Capital and see if they will tell me the manufacturer they used on the quote..Capital just had one number $850 when I called the lady wasn't that sure if that included everything or just the part.

$1200 for a windshield is CRAZY. Mine has been replaced twice with factory glass and the most I paid was $400 with new seal. Both times it was done at my house and completed in about 30 minutes.
Just because an insurance company is paying for the repair doesn't mean you should ignore the cost. After all, it is your money (and mine) they are paying the bill with. Shop around and find yourself a better deal but don't allow them to use anything but factory/OEM glass.

I really do pay $63 a year. I had a BMW M6 with them but sold it when I bought the Porsche. That car was only $95 a year. They do have mileage restrictions of 3500 a year but they said they are not very srtrict on it.

I recently tried to put my '79 SC on a Hagerty policy instead of AAA to save some money. I think they quoted me like $400 or so for 12 months insurance. But, they do have mileage requirements. When I told them that I'd drive the car roughly 5000 miles a year and to work once a week, they said that was outside the scope of the "purpose" for their insurance and declined to provide coverage. My driving record is fine, no accidents, one ticket.

My local glass shop sells me 911 windshields for $100. These have the tinted band. Then a new seal from our sponsor and I am business for way less than $200.

Wow, I think I will be using master-glass.com. They want $450 for OEM glass, with new rubber, and installed at my house.
