PO's harness install - Fine for DE/AX or unacceptable?
Looks like he used high grade bolts and large fender washers underneath. This is a '72 so there's no factory mounting point on the passenger side.

did he backplate them? if not.............1/4 steel plate and grade 8 ny-lock nuts bolts washers .............LOCTITED! sh$$ can the funky washers! then use black RTV on holes drilled thru floor to make them H2O proof.

lee if you come over for fender guys "valve adjustment party" at my house will show you mine. just cuz its DE doesnt mean you cant SMACK the wall at PIR! or be hit by some idiot!

The way it shows on top of the carpet concerns me. If you are mounting through carpet, properly mounted there should be a bushing between the car body and the belt attachment. The angles however are not great. An impact will cause the belt attachments to bend up and could then fracture. It would be much better to have the inboard belt mounted on the side of the tunnel (and stronger, thicker metal) and the outboard belt on the side of the chassis (again, stronger, thicker metal).
If that was my car, I would move them even for street driving. |

Based on the location of those bolts, I hope they are for the lap belt. Don't put them threre for your shoulder belts, you'll break your shoulders if there is a big impact. A lot of ricers put them there for the look and they are really putting themselves in danger.

I ran a 3/16ths x 2" flat bar across the entire bottom of the car and mounted my attachments thru the floor with washers on the cabin side. I actually got the bar over to the bottom of one of the roll bar floor bolts and welded it to the base plate. I didn't much like the floor mounted roll bar, but it didn't hurt that I got some more metal attached to the underside of the thing. I like the sill mounted roll bar better and I'm not real sure I like having any part of the safety harness system tied to the roll bar, but I did on the last car.
