Electric sunroof

My sunroof will not open .Only the passenger side starts to open. I have tried the tool that came with the car but it still wont open I dont want to apply too much pressure and take a chance of doing more damage can you shed any light on this matter?

I revived this nearly year-old thread (or not, since there's only one post) because it PRECISELY describes what happened to me just the other day.

My sunroof was working fine up until two days ago; now it will not open. As the original poster says, the passenger side starts to open (the rear corner on the psgr side begins to retract under the roof line), but the driver's side stays put, causing the motor to cease operation. The sunroof in this position is slightly cockeyed - luckily it retreats to a proper close.

I have truly done nothing to precipitate this. The car has been chilling out with pleasant drives for the 3 weeks I've owned it. I washed and waxed it once, and operated the sunroof subsequent to that with no troubles. I have zero ideas as to the cause.

I unzipped the headliner and attempted to hand crank the roof, which didn't work - and was especially difficult since the crank itself was not there: I had to turn the flathead screw by hand. After starting to crank, it met with some resistance and I chickened out of trying to force it.

What the heck do I try other than living without the sunroof? I am not prepared to take out the headliner and poke around looking for clues. I'll probably get into more trouble that way than just opening my window, sticking my thumb up, and trying to look cool..

Does anyone have a helpful suggestion?

Roger
