Hand painting center caps yourself
Has anyone hand painted their center caps on Fuchs wheels?
What paint did you use and how did it come out? |

Hi Jeff -
The PO of my 83SC hand painted the center caps prior to my purchase in 1992. They looked good then and still do now, after 40k miles. Unfortunately, I don't know what kind of paint he used, but the red and gold colors are still vivid. chuck |

Hi Jeff. I recently undertook this project. It can be done if you have patience and a steady hand. Use a #1 and #2 ponytail artist brush and the following paints (available at Home Depot).
Bar-B-Q Black, High Heat Enamel #7778 from Rust-oleum. Chinese Red # 15 Gloss Polyurethane oil Enamel by Red Devil. Gold #7954 Metallic enamel by American Accents (Rust-oleum) Here is how mine turned out...good luck, Chris ![]() ------------------ Shakenbake (Chris Baker) 1974 911 Coupe [This message has been edited by Shakenbake (edited 05-30-2000).] |

I have heard of Testors model paint being used, plenty of color choices to pick from.

Hey, Chris! Those are GREAT!!! The 'look' matches the hood crest, and look 'correct' for the car ... unlike Automotion's $180 sets, which, with all of the different colors and details, would look great as coasters on an expensive coffee table, but just don't look (in my opinion) like they belong on a 911's Fuchs wheels!
