911 chip swap advice

Have searched archives but still wonder if i buy a Steve Wong should I oda stock or sport option with only cat bypass, cone filter and stock muffler. May swap mufflers in future but concerned with neighborhood decibel issues...

Also noticed the existing chip reads:

911.020.100.01
Carrera 3.2 84-87

Is this the factory one- if not, any ideas?

Thanks all!

David

David: Contact Steve W for all these questions. He is a really great guy and will gladly guide you through the identification and option decisions.

Another vote for Steve W. He has forgotten more than most of us know about chips and DME fuel systems.

A 911 number would indicate a stock part number. If I were you, and I was you at one point in my p-car owenrship, I would do either all or none.

as in, I would do a sport muffler, a euro premuffler and 911 chip all at the same time, or I would save some cash until I could. Steve tunes his chips for different exhaust modifications, and the sport muffler makes a difference.

As far as noise levels - look at M & K exhaust single out or the dansk single out - both are just a little more throaty than stock, not so much noise increase.

Thanks men! Rec'd a polite and detailed reply from Steve Wong directly- he's an ace! He believes the existing chip is an Autothority clone- the tabs in the DME had been scratched/ bent which also suggests someone had been in there previously... Have ordered all today AM from Pelican as per his advice. Hope to post pix when fully sorted...

Looking forward to hearing all about it, I want to do the same to my black 911. I hear that Steve Wong is the right choice hands down.

As I understand it, Steve will sell you a chip for your existing mods, and then swap chips for any later mods, for a fee of like $35; if memory serves correctly.
Is that customer service...I think so!
