RSR type strut brace
I saw a lot of replicas fitted with correct RSR strut braces (see picture below). I would like one like this for my 911. Is there a maker out there offering these beauties or is it a DIY type of work ? I must confess I lack the most basic skills when it comes to using a wrench...

RUF sells a duplicate and it's actually not overpriced:
http://www.ruf-automobile.de/content.php?seite=shop/produkte.php&hauptrubrik=10&rubriken_zubehoer=14&s tichwort=&archiv=&jahr=&details=137 You can order it through Ruf Dallas: http://www.rufautocentre.com/contact/index.asp |
I wonder if these work better than, or as well as, some of the ones today?? I'm thinking about the triangulated Elph. bar for one.
Then there's the issue of whther it is better to tie the sheet metal together on each side - near the struts as vs. tieing the strut mounts themsleves together right on the bolts. |

sent you a pm dave |
to EJHHF: thank you, it looks good.
randywebb: this has been debatted to death and the majority view is that the RSR design is still the best. TRE: I did not receive your PM Mathieu |
Thx - debate is not very useful w/o data and w/o any real force analysis. I'd like to see those if anyone has them...

Got mine from TRE. Tyson Schmidt welded it in. Looks great!

Hi Joseph ! Can you post a pick ? I would really like to see the TRE set up. Thanks !

Here is a pic minus the bar.
You will first have to sand down the sourounding area to the metal to have a clean welding area. The TRE piece come in bare metal so you just need to sand the surface down a bit. Not too bad so far. You also have to bend the filler coming off the gas tank in a bit with a pipe about 4 or 5 mm so the bracket will clear. Right side is a breeze. Next you weld and make sure that you dont ignite the gas tank. Then make a cross bar because every car is different so it needs to be measured and custom made. TRE can do it all for you. Check out my car. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1158541565.jpg |
