Another 930 Megasquirt EFI completed
Well, after a very long start & many twist to the process, my EFI conversion is finally "done". Spent 3 days at the track in an attempt to tune the car a bit and she is at least now very drivable
![]() Many thanks to all on the board and my mechanic (Chris @ K&B Auto) who had helped! A bit of details - 930 with 3.4 JE with Perfect Bore. Ported head with Carrera intake. Twin-plugged. Megasquirt v1 Extra controlling both fuel and ignition directly. Still using my K27HF with SC cam. And a new Bell full bay intercooler (after I was shafted by another Pelican with a "new" but completely useless leaking one). Time to continue & enjoy the driving for a little while after a very long year.

Congratulations!!!
Be sure and get it on a dyno to set the AFR's and timing before you do any hardcore driving. I've lost count of how many people have started and finished their rebuild/EFI project before me. ![]()

I have a LM-1 in the car and its connected to the MS. That's how I have been tuning the AFR so far. Plan is to get a decent base map then get on the dyno to "fine tune".
Any suggestion for how to set the initial ignition timing? I have been pretty much using the factory curve so far.

Congratulations! I know you are happy to see it running well. I ended up running around 10* of advance at idle and ramping up very quickly after that. The only thing that I really discovered was that you can get some idle hunting if your ignition map has steep changes in the idle (or fast idle) zone.
Good work. We'll want to see pics and dynos!

You might try Rennlist on the turbo forum for curves. I'm still a few weeks away from starting mine. If you haven't found anything or you just want mine to compare, shoot me a PM in a few weeks.

Will try to retard it to 10 & see if it makes a difference. Haven't taken any pics lately but will do soon. Here's one that shows the long block... ![]()

Hobie and Mike, can you give me a ballpark idea of cost for the megasquirt system including the ignition system. I had originally planned on going with autronic, but in pricing that system, once I add in ignition components, I'm getting close to the $4K mark. Thanks.

I built my own "ignition system" from components per Megasquirt suggestions. Total cost is ~$100. Then buy your favourite coils. Megasquirt controls the coils directly (6 for me) - timing, dwell, etc.
The Megasquirt ECU + harness can be bought for ~$500. tbitz, another Pelican, sells a kit. I'm sure there are others too.
