Replacing front S-Trim on '73.5 911T
I will be taking the front bumperettes off next weekend and will need to "fill the gaps" in the existing S trim. It appears as though the easiest way to go will be to just replace the entire trim 1" rubber strip and not mess with taking the bumper off and replacing the entire deco trim. Or, is there more to this than meets the eye? If not, is part number 901-505-405-51-OEM (here at Pelican) what I need?
Thanks in advance. John |
If you want to take off the rubber trim strip, be aware it has a threaded stud on at the tip of each end. The nuts have to be removed from the inside of the bumper. Also the ends are just sort of glued on, so you might be looking at separating the ends from the new strip when you try to put it on, if your're not careful. I believe you have to remove the bumper, which is very easy (2 bolts from the bumper brackets on each side of the nose & one bolt at the support on the battery box on each side), to get the bumperetts off. If it were me, I would consider just filling the holes with balck silicone, trimming it with a razor blade or something, & cleaning & blackening the strip that's on there first to see how it looks.

Torque, I sent you an email.

I second the black silicone routine above. You have to remove the bumper to get at the screws for the trim...a major PITA.
