Bilstein HD pre 4/85 vs. 4/85+??

Can anyone tell me what changed in the 911 front suspension to require a different insert for the factory Boge?.... Bilstein HD offers different part numbers for pre 4/85 vs. 4/85 and later...

At some point around the SC / Carrera time they changed the inserts from internally threaded to externally threaded. Maybe that's it. But I don't know for sure.

Actually, I think my Bilstein's came with both internal and external nuts, so I don't know if that's it. Are there different part numbers for Boge struts both before and after?

I think they used Koni struts as well and that is a factor in which shock you can use.
