Those Chrome Headlight Grills(?) - Lame for 911's?
Wondering why I have never seen those "grills" for lack of a better label on 911's? Even on early ones. I think I've seen them on an occasional 356. Are they just the wrong era for a 911 or what?
Anyone have a picture of a 911 with these? Anyone have them on their car?

These?
![]() Since there was no other chrome on my car (black trim), I never thought it looked right. When I had KevinP73 paint my car, I had him powder coat a pair in black and he also painted a pair in the matching blue. I can easily switch between the blue or black as my mood changes ![]() For some reason the H4's have the chrome trim as part of the mount, the paintable rings fit over the chrome piece. I think the chrome looks fine on the cars with chrome trim.

Buy them, sell them

Yeah,
![]() My '76 has chrome window trims and the headlamp rings seem to suit it well.

Good looking car. I think the wheel lips being polished makes it all come together.

No, I'm not talking about the the headlight "rings" - whether sugar scoops or H4 rings - I have chrome H4 rings myself andlove them for cars with bright trim especially.
I am talking about the ...."mesh" - I guess you'd call it - grids that go over the headlight to protect them against pebbles that fly up and hit the lense. I have seen them on 356's and more commonly on British sports cars. I MAY have seen them on a 911 once but I have always wondered why not on restored early 911's especially. I kinda like them though they would be a PITA to keep from rusting. I think they are not "era-correct" for my car and won't put them on (if I could even find them) but I like them. By the way, Hi Adam. Nice to see you on the board again...you were gone awhile weren't you?

The grilles are really an earlier period than the 911, they are common as early beetles as well as 356's. That's not to say they wouldn't look good on an Outlaw style early car or even an R inspired car, I think they have potential to look great. Bob Tilton's car or Andyjboy's would look great w/ them.

Oooh, They WOULD look good on Bob's car...well, maybe. He might not think so. But I wouldn't mind seeing them on a 911 to see if I like them.
