Horn don't go beep beep
I have a brown wire hanging under the steering column, (brown) If I touch that to a ground horn will work. I figure it needs to be hooked somehow up to the column so when the horn button is pushed the horn will work. The problem is I can't seem to find where it should hook up to. Someone must know the answer. 1974 911 targa

That brown wire is a ground. It should go up through the steering column and connect to the connector on the horn pad.

Kurt, I don't think thats entirely correct.
I went through this yesterday to try and fix my turn signal/flasher switch. The brown wire looks like its a connector with a copper connector slid into it. It is a ground wire. I finally found out about it in the Bentley manual when I did the same thing as Kerry by pulling it apart in haste without taking a note or a photo for reassembly. Bentley says it goes underneath the right hand attachment screw for the lower stering column cover. The connector to the underneath of the horn pad is actually already on the steering wheel. That's what I did and all works fine, except for the headlight flasher switch! (not operable) |
sus911 between you and I he now knows where both connections go!

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1158789785.jpg the wire on the left comeing out of the directional switch will beep the horn if I ground it I would think that it should attach to the ring on the steering shaft mount since that rides on the steering wheel contact but I don't see anyplace to connect it. It has a female connector on the end (not visible in pic). This is a resurrection of the dead and sometimes I think it would have been better dead Kerry |
