Grandma's Bingo
I am in the process of suspension upgrades Neatrix rear bushings, monoballs, torsions and new CV boots. Even though they were ordered I was going to hold off on the monoballs because it looked like a lot of work. Well I decided to do it anyhow and I think it was a good thing. After all the parts were off the trailing arm the rear bearings sound like Grandma's Bingo machine. Now I have heard dry bearing make some noise but these sound like the balls are just falling around inside.
I am following the threads on the susension upgrades and they are very helpful. One tip I discovered through necessity is that make sure you get the large rear nut loose before you take the brake off on the other side. The emegency brake really helps hold the wheel. I didn't do this and without the brake set I bent the 3/4" pipe I using to hold the hub while I stood on the breaker bar. The tip is if you have the brake already off the other side just put a vise-grip on the cable you have off. You can then apply the emergeny brake for the side that is not off yet. Lucky I guess so far everything has come apart easily except for one stuck brake line fitting. The fitting came loose but was stuck to the tube. It was the inside one that attaches to the flex line. I was able to take the clip off and pull the entire assembly back through the mount and remove the brake line. I was then able to work the fitting until it came loose. One less part to order. Anyhow the vise grip on the brake line is probably posted someplace else but maybe it will help someone.
