Necessary to use shims/anti-squeal on new rear PBR pads?

I am installing PBR Deluxe pads in the rear of my 911 SC. There is no anti-squeal pad on the backing plate. Can I put these in as is, or do I have to spray them with anti-squeal or use shims. I have some Gunk spray for this, but I've heard this makes the seals stick to it.

In my experience the Deluxe pads don't make any noise, and don't need any kind of spray or spring-shim.

Thanks. That's what I wanted to hear and is why I bought them.

I do experienced squeal, even with the anti squeal. It gone away after several months.

I don't like the "goo" as you need to wait for it to set up and even then..it tends to pull out the dust boots later. If you want to add something like this, I would suggest the aluminum/acrcylic 3M stuff that has a "peel-off back" and gets stuck on from behind. I recall the "Help!" product line from the local FLAPS had this.....

I agree the goo is messy. It does work though. I've always had problems with the rear calipers squealing, even after checking the cylinder angle, cleaning the pad contact, greasing the pins, etc etc. I've had good results with a Permatex anti-squeal pad that sounds like the 3M stuff. I use the PBR ceramic pads, and they're great.
