diy sway bar...
has anyone done it? i believe in a book i have, chassis engineering, it describes how to measure the forces and calculate the size bar needed, did a quick google and havent found anything so far as to someone actually making one. im sure racers do it. anyone have any links?
im going to attempt it if its possible to be something like the smart racing bars. i have access to a full machine shop if need be to make copies at a low cost.

Shouldn't be a problem.
You should see how home made the sways look on the 935 I was recently restoring. It gave me the same idea. Use really large diameter thin wall tubing, and it will be very light and strong. You could even make it cockpit adjustable if you have the skills. Just need to make some blades, and figure out the cables and mounting.

Dean, I'm sure it's possible. I think the starting point would be to take an OEM bar and get the general layout of the piece. I have one that I'd be willing to donate to the cause if you'd promise to remember me when you're selling them by the thousands.

All the parts are available to make cockpit adjutsable ones. Check HRPworld. Pricey but interesting none the less. I would build basic copies (dimensonaly) of my SRP bars that are on the car now. Then use the swivelling blade ends and remote adjusters. This is on my list once the car is finally on the road/track. Should get to it in about 2 years!!

wow great link, im going to look into that. are the cabin adjustable bars very sought after? like do alot of people use/ want to use them?
tyson, do you have any pics, just curious. twork, i have my stock bars but will most likely do a thru body ont he front, idk about the rear yet. thanks jay

Sorry, I don't have pics. This particular 935 has the blades but no cockpit adjustability.

Dean,
there are a couple of Swedish companies that make sway bars with knives to measure. Sellholm Tuning AB Lindskog Engineering Sellholm's knives are not as pricey as HRPWorlds, but since you would have to ship the parts half a lap around the world maybe they'll end up costing the same. The images however might give you some ideas. /Peter
