If you are in Bruce Anderson's book, the specs will be there for the engine. I think that the crash standards, ie. bumperettes and door reinforcement bars won't be there. Also the speedometer is set to bleep or ding at ridiculousoly low speeds. If you are in the US, your car should have some sticker that says your car was federalized at some point. If not, and the nonconforming speedo could be an indicator, somebody may not have brought the car in properly. The car is one year away from a free entry situation so the feds may not get nasty in your case, but they have been known to impound cars and hand out some incredibly heavy fines. Not likely to you, but those who may have defrauded the government, and a lot of that was done 10 to 20 years ago in the grey car market. Good luck, its probably a fine legal car,but it would be nice to be able to verify that.

Specs should be in Bruce's book. I don't know about the ancillaries.

Mark:

If your car is a Japanese model, isn't it also right-hand drive? The Japanese drive on the left, like in England and other countries, meaning that they get right-hand drive cars.

Normally the only differences between Porsches destined for different markets has to do with emissions, safety equipment (like different lighting, safety glass, etc), and other minor issues. There usually is no large difference in the actual engine part, unless the Germans get all the high compression stuff; but as I said, that is emmissions related, so we get the weak sisters.

Anyway, if you have a left-hand steering wheel, it might have been ordered that way from Japan, though it might also be a "normal" car that was imported into Japan, and now exported to the USA.

Any thoughts?.......Andras
