Long term effects of engine running lean
 
Replaced injectors with new bosch. new bosch fuel filter. new bosch fuel pump. cat bypass sport muffler cam timing set for max torque. still running lean. what are long term short term effects of lean fuel mixture. thanx r.t.

Lean is mean but only in a quatermile. When an engine runs lean it runs hot, short term is frying your oil prematurly. Long term is you could burn a valve, melt a hole in the top of a piston, etc.
Have you ever seen the inside of an engine that has run too much nitrous? same thing it just takes longer to happen.

I understand heat is an issue. engine doen't run hot. Spark plugs are a light brown color. I read previous thread ponting at the AFM. Any suggestions?

Light brown/tan is good. Are you having other issues? Pinging/knocking?

How do you know it running lean? Hookup an AF meter?
