Smile Hood gaps ?

Is there a trick to getting the front lid of an old 911 (69) to close a little lower, closer to the bumper - actually it's a 912 but nobody's on that board vs the 911 one and it's the same lid ;-)

I just want the front lip of the long hood to close about 1/4 inch lower than now. The seal is not preventing that, I can push down some more by hand and get the right gap. I could try adjusting the striker and latch but - having 2 left hands - I probably would end up locking the lid never to be openable again, so I thought I'd ask you guys first ! It works great, I just want it to close a little tighter....

Thx !!

Greg,
I've got the same issue on a 1988 Targa, plus I also have two left hands. Hopefully someone has a simple solution.

can you lower the locking mech.?

you might need to cut the rubber bumpstops too & that may be unwise...

Can't say for a 69, but on my 68, the "pin" (for lack of a better word) that fits into the locking mechnism is treaded with a nut that tightens against the bottom of the hood to lock it in place. Whenever I have the bra on and take it off, I loosen the nut, screw the lock pin in a few turns and retighten the nut by hand. Otherwise, the trunk lid will not close flush with the body. Put the bra back on, and I have to turn it out a few turns so I can close the lid with the added thickness of the bra.

Car's not at the house right now, so I can't show you a pick.

I've tried taht, but I am careful as I cannot see where I could attach an emergency opening wire, nor thread it out of the nose of the car. So slowly but surely... It's a little lower but higher on one side than the other, not much, but it's there ! Thx !
