My in-car racing video
My ever-expanding website now includes links to some video I shot during my first Drivers' Ed event. The files are huge (5 to 6 megs each), but if you have a DSL line or a cable modem, you might enjoy seeing them.
The link is at: http://members.rennlist.com/jackolsen/Racing.html The files are in Quicktime format. I'd be interested in how (or if) they play on other peoples' computers. Thanks. ------------------ --------------- Jack Olsen 1973 911 T sunroof coupe http://members.rennlist.com/jackolsen/Jalopy.html [This message has been edited by JackOlsen (edited 06-13-2000).] |

How did you get the film off your video camera, and onto the computer?
I could use any help, as I've got some cool stuff on tape too, but don't know how to get it on the computer (thus, on the net). Thanks in advance, Ahmet |

I've got a digital camera, which includes a 'Firewire' plug that goes into the computer. From there, I store the files on my home machine, which (because it's a Macintosh, I guess) is able to function as a simple web server that can feed files to my Rennlist page, which otherwise wouldn't have enough room for them.
It's all kind of new to me. But I think you can get cards for most computers which will allow you to feed video into them. Did you try actually watching one of them? Did it work? I'm working in the dark, here. ------------------ --------------- Jack Olsen 1973 911 T sunroof coupe http://members.rennlist.com/jackolsen/Jalopy.html |

I did try one, it gave me a very small file, than clicking on that opened up the windows media player, which was supposed to (I guess) connect to the server, and start playing...
I've got a 33.6k modem at the moment, and I higly doubt if that's fast enough. I just ordered DSL, and will try it again after I switch, if anything is different, I'll let you know. Those macs are pretty cool, my dad's got one at his work, but for the house he doesn't get anything but PCs, and I hate it! The apples are really superior, and they don't go obsolite (spelling?) nearly as quick as the PCs do. Ok, let's not get off subject. ![]() This time it didn't work, but I'll try it at another location, and after DSL, -->let you know what happens. Thanks for the info, Ahmet |

Cool!
I'm at work, so the link is very fast - took me about 4:30 to download lap 1 - it played great and was fun to watch. Thanks! - roGER PS: For those of you who haven't done this before - REAL Video shows a few frames in motion when it starts the download - this is so you get some idea of what you are watching... The action then stops while the entire file downloads. When the file has downloaded in full, the video starts from the beginning and plays in full. You can rewind, fast-forward, and freeze the image at any time after that. Save the file from your browser's "file" menu. |
