I've finally had it with my stock "sissy horns." They sure don't command much respect when you can only issue a high toned note rather than the necessary sound to warn, wave or advise to get the %$#* out of the way. I'm wondering what others have done to remedy this.
Please no air horns that play show tunes... I'm interested in what to use as a replacement and how to mount them or it. I know about the aftermarket air horns on the market but have to think someone out there has a better idea.

I've used preowned BMW horns in both a Mercedes and Honda. The late model 740 and 540 horns are quite commanding and are found for a few $$$.

Hi Donny,
Funny you should raise this question. I ALMOST swapped the horns out of my '86 951 for those in my '76 but ran out of time. After driving an '87 944 and then an '86 951, the 911 horns are just timid. I didn't compare for size or mounting hole configuration but I can't imagine they're much different ...possibly identical? Not to mention, What is cheaper than parts off a 944 someone is parting out?! Good luck. I'll add it to my list of things to do. Post pix if you do it please

Thanks Dan, I will post pics when I do this. I need to change mine before I get myself killed squeaking my stupid horn and hoping it's heard. I get really strange looks from bikers if I try to warn them not to pull out in front of me. My horn is gay (and there's definitely something wrong with that)...
Here's the latest example; I was behind a huge SUV on a sweet twistie section near where I live. I flashed my lights and tooted my little tooter but the bozo continued poking along at about 25mph with me and a few mates (a Lotus and BMW M coupe) wagging along behind him for several miles before he finally noticed us and moved over to allow us to pass. I really wanted to get his attention but as you said "timid" wasn't doing the job! What did you think of the Mid9 stickers? I just ordered 4 from Jim.

I went to "Pick-N-Pull" and bought horns off a Cadillac for $5.00 Mounted in original position. People get out of my way when I honk. Staying original is great until it effects your safety.

Paul,
Thanks, I agree original is great but safety is impairative! Wouldn't it be cool if you could have your daughter's ride secretly stashed at a local Pelican gathering in your area and spring it on her in front of the club/lifestyle she is about to be inducted into? Something tells me that would be an emotional session... not just for her but for all present and certainly for Mom and good ole dad! I'd like to pass my car along one day but need to be dead first!
