SC clear-coated?
I have an 82 SC with factory original black metallic paint.
How can I tell if it's clear-coated? Thanks.

Using a clean, white terry washcloth, apply a good quality "cleaner wax" (Meguiar's, Mother's, Zaino, et al) and see if the cloth turns black. If it does, you have single stage paint. If not, it is clearcoat.
I believe Porsche used clearcoat on metallic paints in the SC era.

All metallic shades were clear-coated beginning with the 1970 models, per the factory service manual.
