Spy Shots: 2009 Porsche Panamera

Just thought I'd pass along this link of the new Porsche Panamera proto car I found interesting.

Follow Up to Panamerica?

"Eggaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddddddds, Winslow. Is that another P-car with four doors and water pumping through it? Quick pass me another gin and tonic before I lose my sanity."

"But Derald Darhling, it comes with a baby seat so that Poopskie can take Derald IV to watch the Polo Ponies on Sunday."

Boy that really looks out of proportion...like one of those jags with the extra long rear passenger area. I wonder what the price point will be for the 3.5 litre version?

Unbeknownst to the world, GM has secretly acquired Porsche and taken over their design and production.

You guys see the tape right? I don't like it as it is but we've all see enough spy photos compared to the final product to know that this is part of the game.

I don't think they could have made it look more ugly...and that color!!

Anyone else notice how high the beltline and cowl are? I really despise this slit-window type of styling...a rip off of the Charger/Chrysler 300 tanks and completely un-sporty. This will be another fat pig like a Cayenne.

Where's our Porsche Elise/Exige? Last I checked that car had a long waiting list and the four-door super-luxury $100K+ sedan market was way too saturated. Wake up Wendelin!

Wow, back to the drawing board boys. I would have to through a flag and penalize Porsche for un-sportscar like conduct.

Look at the new cars in the current road and track. Now they have it going on.

The new 928 concept looks fantastic and with it big round J-Lo butt and would be a perfect four door platform. Suicide mini back doors that would still make the outer appearance look like a two door.

How about a true to form retro short hood!

I see the tape is covering up some important signiature items (headlights among others) but as it stands right now the lines, especially the roof towards the rear, are just extremely unappealing. It also looks like they have added some plastic body panels to throw off the lines some (at least I HOPE that's what the panels are for), so I am not going to totally thrash it until I've seen the end results.

It is still very early in development, so I'm going to try not to judge that prototype too much.

I would not worry to much - the renderings I have seen look much better, and appear similar to that new Maserati sedan, which btw looks very good IMO.

Here is the air cooled 4door version of a 911S built by Troutman & Barnes for a Mrs. Dick of San Antonio, TX in the late 60's. Her husband was co-owner of the Porsche dealership at the time. Cost: A little more than a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow!!
