COA Question
I received my Certificate of Authenticity today, and there were a couple of surprises. The first one was great! The motor and trans. are original equipment. The second was the Production Completion Date. Porsche says it was 12/01/1969. Since this car is titled as a 1966, serial number 303129-- How is it possible that the production completion date is 12/01/69? Thank you in advance for any information.

Jon, the people at PCNA in Atlanta made a mistake. They often make mistakes. You should call them and ask for the correct build date.
303179 is a late 1965 manufactured 1966 model year car. We need your info here! VIN Experts - Do I have a '65 or a '66 911?

I spoke to Christie at Porsche. She said they had made a mistake, and that the car was built and delivered in 1965. While the title says 66', I'm sure the car was probably sold in early 66', but is it worth trying to change the title?
She also commented that they had recently made several errors on production dates, and were in the midst of re-programing their computer.

Jon,
The factory is closed for the month of August. So the 1965 model year began in September, 1964, and ran through July, 1965. Then 1966 MY production started in September, 1965. The beginning of production in Calendar Year 1966 was 303390, with the transition to the 901/05 motor in February of that year. My 1966 was built on April 1, 1966 and is a 901/05 with original three-digit Weber carburetors. So we know, for example, that 302981 was made on November 24, 1965. Since 303390 was made at the end of December, that means that your car, which falls between the two, was made in December, 1965 as a 1966 Model Year, with Solex Carburetors. Make sense? Your car was probably made on December 1, 1965, and the nice folks in the CoA division at the world's most profitable car company just made a mistake. Your title is accurate, your car would have been a 1966 model year. If you REALLY want to get into it, post some detailed photos of your chain covers, horn grilles, trunk, ignition switch, oil temperature sender, the back of your tachometer and I'll tell you exactly how to tell what year 911 you have! Thanks for posting and being a member of the early SWB club here on PP!

Thank you John! I'm in the middle of a pitch battle with my rear suspension. As soon as I get that squared away, I'll take you up on the offer.
