97 Carrera S power mods
A friend of mine should have bought the twim turbo, but he wants even more power! How would one go about getting around 600 hp out of a normal 97 Carrera engine? Where he lives, they could care less about smog inspections.

I am quite certain Bruce Anderson would agree that it just can't be done ... normally aspirated!

I'm no expert, but from what I've read you would be into big $$$$ to get a normally aspirated 3.6 into 400-450bhp territory, let alone 600. And, you'd basically have a race engine that might not do to well on the street, would probably need race gas, and would have major problems sneaking past the smog police.
Sell it and buy a turbo! |

Engine management system, whipple supercharger, and nitrous oxide. Fools paradice. Buy a twin turbo.
