SOCG: The fourth annual Tour d’Orange

Here is another New Years Day drive alternative if anyone is interested. Meeting place for Sports cars is Auto Kennel in Costa Mesa. Hope to see some of you there.

January 1st 2007. The fourth annual “Tour d’Orange”. The first automotive event of the new year will again feature some of the best two lane roads Orange County has to offer. A two and a half hour route will have you home in time for most Bowl Games. Sporty cars meet at the Auto Kennel. American Cars and Muscle Cars meet at Newport Shelby Cobra. Both businesses or located on Redhill in Costa Mesa (Redhill and Fischer). Maps will be handed out at 9 AM and we will depart at 9:15 AM. The event will terminate at IN and OUT Burger. Last years event was attended by over 250 cars! No fee, no need for RSVP, no Whiners.

Hi Chris,
I might make this one.
Still hope to get up for the Hangover run but I have not been feeling that great and i struggle to get up early (and my kids are too sick to drag up to the Valley).

What kind of route is it? Coastal, Ortega, etc.....

Last year it was part coastal and then part Santiago Canyon Road into Anaheim. However, I don't know the route as of yet which kinda makes it interesting. Lots of variety though.

Here are the pics from the OC run. We had a few Porsches and some nice smooth roads. THe only other Pelican I saw out there was Wickd89 (Luis) and that 89 cab is such a sweet ride. Having driven one car now from every generation from my car on except the 964, the progression is really amazing.

Chris, I was there. Sorry I didn't see you and Luis, although I saw his car. I didn't do the drive, went on my own deal with my wife. We had a nice day. Tell me, did you end up at Knowlwoods? I'll do that for sure next year, whether you did or not. More time to ogle the fantastic cars at the end of the run.

Nevertheless, it was super standing on the corner and watching everyone depart and listening to the cacophony of sounds.

Luis, here are the all the photos I took. I edited a few of the bad ones out. The F-car sounds so tempting just have to keep the career moving in the right direction and anything is possible.

Milt, I can't believe I didn't see you. We ended up at In & Out right across the street from Knowlwoods. My first job in high school was working for that Knowlwoods in Anaheim. Usually ends up in the same area or it has for 2 years running.
