89 911 w/rear spoiler

I have had a Porsche shop tell me my 89 didn't come with the rear spoiler, it has two shocks on the lid, one on each side, the mounts sure look perfect and factory. I can't believe someone would go to the trouble to make them like that. The PO told me this car is exactly they way it was on the show room floor.
Is there a option code or number someplace that would show the front and rear spoilers?
The numbers/codes under the front are all the standard things, seats, radio, cruise, hifi, speakers, short shift, with some I can't find a meaning for.
911-440 I am guessing is Targa
L80k LE I am not sure of
and 93025-644

any help out there?

Not a problem, I like the way it looks, but, people that know, tell me it wouldn't come with a factory strut/shock on each side if it didn't come with the rear spoiler and, people that know, tell me it is a factory Porsche spoiler but added later. So, I just thought I would try to find out which it is.

Option Code 473-with spoilers.

I have it on the sticker, I have them (fornt dam, rear tail) on the car.

Re: 89 911 w/rear spoiler

Dean,

Cars delivered with a rear spoiler had two shocks. Cars delivered without a rear spoiler had one, on the left side. Your car would have been built with the forward mount for the right shock, so adding another one when the spoiler was added would have been simple. The right side deck lid hinge is different on a car with a rear spoiler, as it has a provision for attaching the extra shock. Of course, this part could be easily changed as well. Look for option 473 on the sticker, which is the code for front and rear spoilers, on a normal Carrera 3.2.

911-440 is a Targa.
L80k and LE are the codes for the exterior/interior colors.
and 93025-644 is the engine type number.

On the left side of the option label you will find a description of each line printed, that will help identifying what the numbers represent. There are books that will help you decipher the codes. Some are available in bookstores, some are factory publications

Hope this helps,
JR

Well I don't see the number 473 for the option so it must have been added, but it looks like they did a good job. Here is the right and left side of the lid.

Dean,

That is the correct hinge for the right side of a car with two struts. I'm amazed that they went to that trouble. Most people just add a second strut to the left side.

That and everything else looks so totally original under there, sure doesn't look like any repaint or like the lid had been off.

Now you have me curious.

Digging through my document binder I saw that my car was taken to Scott's Coach Works in Pheonix. I want to say that my right hinge looks just like the one you have and I know my spoiler was added later. Receipt = $1200.00.

Tomorrow in the light, I will check it out and let you know for sure. I will even post up a pic if it would help anyone.

EDIT: BeyGon - I checked today and I was wrong, when they installed the spoiler on my '87, they added a second shock on the driver's side hinge. I do not have that second piece on my right hinge. HTH's.
