Emissions test
I am in RI and this is the 1st year for emissions testing. I own a 1984 911 that must be tested in June. Will it pass? What is the best octane to be using? Any other tricks to help the car pass?
Thanks!! |

It should pass just fine. The carrera engine is very clean. I think the regular high octane fuel that I'm sure you use regularly is fine.
I know that a warm engine will give off less emissions. Other than that, as long as there's some emissions equipment intact. I easily passed with the same engine with the strict California standards. Of course they made me do a lot of work first because it was a different year car, but the emissions were very low to begin with. ------------------ Zach 77 911S 3.2 |

I have an 85 3.2 with a "chipped" dme computer and it passed the test just fine.
One key is to warm the motor up to normal temps before taking the car to the inspection facility and make sure that they test it while the motor is still warm. The newer motors will do fine and you should have no problems. ------------------ |
