SSIs and Heaters
Put a pair of SSIs and a 2 into 1 muffler in my 87 Carrera. Really like that word, Carrera. The original heater set up was a 7 cm.stainless pipe that connected the plastic heater fan discharge duct and branched below the tin via. 2 steel pipes 65mm dia. The one to the pass. side ran across, front of the muffler which had an indent so that all would fit.
Now am trying to figure out the best way to do it with the new setup.Looks for starters that I will need a piece of pipe 70mm at one end with 2 65 mm pipes out the other end. This could be connected to flex hose like that used to connect to the original heat exchangers. And where will I get 4 feet of it to connect to the passenger side heat exchanger? Anyone out there already invented this wheel?? Thanks, Ned Monaghan |

Can't say that I understand how the heater on your car was originally configured, but I bet there is some clothes dryer outlet (vent) hose at a local heating/refrigeration supply that should be rated for at least as high temps as your hot air from the SSI's ever gets ... and even if it is a bit larger than the 70 mm, it can be 'squeezed down' with a couple of worm-gear clamps.

You might want to give Mike Bavaro at Bodymotion a call. They are located in central New Jersey. He can modify the crossover tube to allow heat w/SSIs. Their
ph # is 732.493.2700. Hope this helps. Dennis. |
