Well, if they are Kumho Ecsta ASX, I just put those on my wife's Jetta and they are fine. $48 each from Tire Rack. Hard to beat that since as you noted they are a VR tire. Her Jetta will never see 90mph, so whatever.
Now, would I want them on my Porsche? No. Treadwear rating of 400 ?? May as well be cement ![]() For casual street, sure if you'd like. For performance though, you'd be MUCH better of with their MX. Just my opinion ![]() -Chris

I have on my BMW stationwagon for few years now.
They are quiet and has good traction both dry and wet. I like'em.

For a regular car they might be ok. We are talking about Porsche here. When it is parked it still sits there and whispers, "Fling me into a corner, I can take it!"
The Porsche isn't about cutting corners. It is about carving corners. Tread wear 400? Maybe for the Volvo. Porsche = tread wear 60! (At least with treadwear 400 you wouldn't need to worry about being rear ended when you hit the brakes.)

I actually ran 4 autocross events with these on my Subaru Forester XT. They did a lot better than the stock Yokohama Geolanders that came on it. I liked them fine for general use. The side walls are a lot stiffer than a standard touring class tire and you have to push really hard to get them to squeal. The do get very noisy when they're worn and start to ride a bit rougher as well. If the car is ever going to see snow then they might be a good choice, otherwise I'd stick with summer tires like the MX.
Take that for what it's worth, I'm certainly no expert. Joe 82 911SC Targa |

I've had a set of ecsta asx's on my 87 for almost a year now. I switched from yoko es100's which only lasted 10k mi to save my wallet. So far they're great. They do well in the rain out here on our idiot filled freeways in the bay area. I've pushed them quite hard in the twisties with no fear... I don't notice any performance diff from the yoko's, but then again, I haven't tracked it... I believe they're W rated (168mph) which is beyond my redline in 5th
