Engine rebuild class or Video
 

I live in NY, Westchester county. Does anyone know of someone or a shop that offers engine rebuilt classes? Or any shop that would entertaint the thought? I would gladly
market such an event so that I could learn myself or even use my engine for rebuilding. I welcome any suggestions or Ideas.

Hope all is well. I, too, was looking for a course like that and I was unable to find anything on the east coast. There are courses listed in Excellence in California that I might go to. If you find anything on the east coast, please let me know.

You know if there were enough of us and we paid air for Anderson and Woods as well as lodging and the price of the course they might come out and do it.

I attended a engine rebuild class last Dec given by Cole Scrogham of G&W Motorsports in Waynesboro, West Viginia. It was a three day class. It started on a Friday afternoon and ended on a Sunday. It was a nice scenic drive from NJ. They are a nice bunch of folks. Cole was happy to answer any questions related to a person's specific needs. While there I visited their restoration and sales shop a few miles away.. They have a unique collection of Porsches there. Their ph # is 540.942.9334. Check out their website @ motorsports.gandw.com

How would you rate the instruction you received at G&W? Also how much did the class cost? I assume the three days involved an actual tear-down and rebuild. How many other people were in the class and how many instructors? Sorry for so many questions. I live reasonably close to Waynesboro, VA and think that this sounds worthwhile.

Mark, I thought the instruction was very good. Keep in mind that I would rate my mechanical skills as average. The majority
of the class participants seemed pretty knowledgeable though. I was lost when Cole started to explain cam timing. There were about 8 people in the class I attended. Cole was the main instructor with help from one of his co workers. The class begins with the bare case already split. The engine is then built up over the course of 3 days. Students take part in some of the rebuild, like inserting the pistons, valve timing, etc. The engine used for my class was a 2 litre. Cole does take the time to point out the differences between the various engines. The last day includes a dyno run, though not on the engine that was just rebuilt. I think the cost was in the $350 range which includes dinner on Sat night at a local resturant. Again, I would recommend it. I took the class just for my interest in the cars.

You can't beat the down home hospitality!

Well it appears there is some interest in this type of activity after all. I would gladly attempt to organize such a class with a porsche shop if I could gather enough participation. If there is anyone who would be interested in such a class, could you please email me a bruno@roycenet.com . I will prepare a proposal. I live in Westchester Co. NY and I am sure anyone from the Metro NY, CVR or NJ region porsche club could make the day trips for the class.

I live in NNJ, and I believe a couple of others here are nearby. I would certainly be interested in such a class. I checked out B.Anderson's site, but was dismayed to find out he's only out in CA.
