My Paint Job

All,

I bought the car in Costa Mesa CA in 1999 and slowly did a very long rolling restoration. It still is going to need more to do but for a daily driver it doesnt look bad.

I thought some of you might be interested in seeing my almost completed paint. I've posted some sequential pictures that show the work in progress.

I'm going to put it back together this long weekend, once I'm done, I'll post the final result.

All the windows were removed, the rear parcel shelf as you can see was rotten, it has subsequently been replaced. The artist that did the body work replicated the parcel shelf including the metal dimples.

The two front fenders were replaced with ones that I was able to source in Toronto. These were early 70's that were in bare metal. They of course had surface rust which I had removed using a local shop that used a dipping process. The rear deck lid was also replaced with a bare metal part from the same source. I was really lucky to find these items at an incrediblely low price. The person was cleaning out his garage and his wife wanted the parts out!

I replaced the original A/C with a more modern compressor, front and deck lid condensor. In addition to all new rubber tubing. The system actually works reasonablely well in our Toronto summer climate. With all the parts, the whole thing cost me about $ 150 CDN. All the parts came from an 80's 911. What was difficult was the wiring, I got the wiring diagram from ( they are really great people ) International Air in San Diego.

I know that the original color was Rose red, but %$#* it really does look like a shade of pink. Couldnt bring myself to painting it that color.

Any comments are welcome.
