installing pelican interior need some advice

in the process of installing the pelican interior in the targa and am having a problem with the piece that has vinyl on it that is installed in the footwell and to the door jamb area. The original interior was removed by a po so i do not have any guide to use.

Would someone post a photo of how the vinyl is attached to the door area.

Thanks

I don't have a pic handy, but someone will come along with the procedure. Basically, that's a long and troublesome piece. Before dry fitting to the car, it helps to lay the carpet out in the sun. Stretch the piece along the door sill aligning the vinyl flap with the door seal channel. The door seal must be removed in this area. You may have to trim the vinyl a bit. When you are sure that all fits in both directions, make some witness marks with strips of tape and remove to apply your adhesive.

speaking of adhesive, I didn't find the 3M products to be the best for the carpet installation (surprise!). I think it was a spray adhesive by Permatex that went on better and allowed at least one repositioning while working. Anyway, tuck the flap into the channel and clamp. Put the door threshold on to hold the length of your piece and then smooth out the rest by pulling and stretching to the far ends. HTH.

vinyl

Milt

thanks for the response.

The vinyl is about 4 inches wide and extends about 6 inches above and below where it is sewn. should the vinyl extend above towards the dash? and should the entire width of the vinyl be used?

When i dry fit it seems like the vinyl should be be trimmed a couple of inches width wise and that it can extend up towards the dash and down across the sill a ways.

Sorry for the delay. That sounds about right, but the main thing is that it has to fit and look good. they give you much more than you need.

I just did a search using "carpet install" on the last line and for the 911 forum only. Good hits. I'm even on there quite a bit. go figure.
