Elf Synthetic Oil
Anyone have any experience with Elf oil? It appears to be the "first fill" on several european vehicles, including Porsche...

Decent Zinc, ok Ph, no moly. Relatively high TBN. It's a good oil, but there are cheaper and more readily accessible oils at Autozone. I bought some 5w40 vw spec Elf over the web for my oil testing. I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

I believe Mobil 1, Euro weight class...is still "factory fill" in current production Porsches......

I ran into an Elf rep for the northeast and he gave me some literature which stated factory fill for several vehicles including Porsche, MB, BMW...Product is available in my area and comes in 3 litre containers. Priced against the Mobil one i have been buying, its 30% less expensive...thus my initial question....Thanks!

All advertising ( from Porsche and from Mobil)...as well as the stickers on the cars themselves in the engine compartment.....indicate Mobil as curent "Factory Fill".... someone's gotta be lying.....

Maybe we gotta find out if Mobil is "exclusive" factory fill...maybe?

C'mon, now, you guys are smart enough to know that "exclusive factory fill" is a marketing arrangement. I'm sure Mobil1 meets Porsche's minimum standards, but anyone who follows BITOG knows that there are many other synthetics that kick M1 up, down and sideways in every area of performance.

RallyJon.... you picked up on the wrong point......
The question is not if there are better oils (there are)..the question on the table is if Elf oil is factory fill. I say Mobil is...others say Elf is. Proof was shown Mobil is.... Well...*maybe* Elf is *too* ...but ONLY if there are two suitable ( contractural) equals allowed as factory fill by Porsche. Elf would NOT if the "exclusive" fill at the factory is Mobil.... - Wil
