Voltage Regulator Bypass

I'm installing a '83 3.0 in my '70 911. I need to know how to re-wire the charging system in order to bypass the voltage regulator. The regulator has two blue wires going into one connection, two brown wires going into another connection, and then one black wire going into another connection. Any help would be helpful.

I assume you did not get the fuse/relay/CDI 'console' to match your new engine, right?

Have you looked at the Pelican wiring diagrams for the '82 SC?
There is also a color-coded schematic for a '71 model that has the same alternator/regulator wiring as your car at:

The brown wires are ground, also known as 'D-' at the alternator and regulator. The black wire is called 'DF' and is
the field wire. The Blue wire is called 'D+/61' and goes to to idiot light.

If you are referring to the fact that the SC alternator has the built-in regulator ... my suggestion would be to just remove the existing regulator, tape all of the now-unused wires of the same color together to insulate them from contact with anything, and fold them under the relay panel where they won't be rubbing on anything. Then do the same at the back of the alternator, just tape up the unused wires, and fully insulate them from contact with anything else, including GROUND!!!
