73T Battery Question
Having collected my car a couple of weeks ago, I have previously mentioned that the battery was flat one morning and needed to be charged, but then failed a while later !
Well this morning (after reading up on Pelican), I purchased a Volt Meter and got readings of low 12V on both batteries. Put both on to charge and got a reading of 14.2V from the terminals when charging. Then got readings of 12 - 13V so replaced in the car having thoroughly cleaned the posts and connections. Readings of 14V when car started and proving alternator is working. How long should I charge a battery for ? Car started and I will see how it is tomorrow. My question is :- The batteries are Interstate and are maintainable (i.e. you can open them up and add distilled water), and all batteries I have had for years here in the UK have been maintenance free. So should I replace them with two new maintenance free batteries, or one big battery or convet to the Optima in the Smugglers box I have read about.
