I am converting my 71 911T to retractable seat belts front and rear,I have the hardware from a newer 911 its in great shape, the seat side looks simple both front and back but should I drill, and back up the mounting point with sheet metal, or is there a better mounting point for 71.

You're referring to the inside, buckle end?
If so, you can install a seat track mount. I think the receptacle is available from PEP, the seat belt guys. Another method is to fabricate a bracket that bolts onto the center tunnel between the seats and a few inches in front of the access cover plate. The factory bracket is welded. The "between-the-seat" seat belt receptacles bolt onto the bracket. Sherwood |

This would be the other end I have a track mount at the tunnel, but no idea about mounting the belt retracker behind the seat near the floor.

Tony,
On my '69 the bolt holes for the seatbelts were already there. Too bad the threads were completely destroyed. I ended up using the holes originally intended to mount the rear seat belts. The retractors take up some of the rear seat space but no one every sits back there anyway. They work fine. Either way you should be fine. Sam
